The Ten Commandments can be hard for little minds to grasp. Use this FREE Ten Commandments for Kids printable poster to help!

Exodus 20 is a popular chapter in the Bible as it outlines the Ten Commandments. If you’ve tried explaining the Ten Commandments to a 5 year old, you will know it can be hard for little minds to grasp. I’ve thus designed a Ten Commandments for Kids printable-

an easy way to understand the 10 commandments when you’re a child.

I teach the kinder/1st-grade kiddos for our Bible sessions in church and needed a way to explain words like “covet”, “murder” and “adultery” to a 5-year-old.

Hence this simple 10 commandments printable poster.

An Easy to Learn Ten Commandments for Kids Printable

This Ten Commandments printable lists all 10 commandments in order as it is mentioned in Exodus 20, and includes sweet colorful pictures that serve as easy visual reminders of each commandment.

These are the 10 Commandments as outlined in Exodus 20, with the simplified version for kids in bold lettering:

“You shall have no other gods before Me.

Have no other gods before God.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor [b]serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting[c] the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Do not make and worship any idols or carved images.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Always speak God’s Name with respect.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Always honor and respect your father and mother.

13 “You shall not murder.

Do not kill. (murder)

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

Husbands and wives must keep their marriage promises.

15 “You shall not steal.

Do not steal.

16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Do not lie.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Do not be jealous and want what someone else has.
