My kids can’t wait to watch SING, the animated musical comedy when it comes out in theaters this month, on the 21st. We generally wait for about a week after a movie opens to go watch it on the big screen (to avoid the crowds) but this movie will be the exception.

We plan to surprise the kids with tickets for the movie on opening week and I thought, one fun way we could do this is with music treats.

How to make SING inspired Chocolate Covered Music Treats

Ingredients required to make approximately eight to ten 2 1/2 inch sized musical notes:

3 cups Golden Crisp cereal

2 cups mini marshmallows

2 tbsp butter

1 bar of dark or milk chocolate. (I used the remains of a broken chocolate reindeer.)

1. Melt butter in a pan, over a low heat. 2. Add the marshmallows to the pan and keep stirring till the marshmallows melt completely.

3. Once done, take the pan off the stove, set on the counter or table and add the Golden Crisp cereal to the marshmallow-butter mix. You can enlist the assistance of little helpers at this time.4. Once the cereal is well coated and everything is well combined, place the mixture in a greased non-stick square baking tray or a tray lined with wax paper.

5. Set the tray aside to cool for at least 15- 20 minutes or so before cutting into it with your music note cookie cutters.

6. Dependent on how well close you cut the shapes, you should get more than 8 music notes if using the 2.5″ quaver cookie cutter.

7. Once your shapes are cut out, melt the chocolate in the microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring after each to check if the same is melted.

You can cover the whole quaver with chocolate or just part of it, based on preference.

Aren’t these cute? SING inspired chocolate covered music treats!

Quick heads up, when you’re buying the Golden Crisp cereal to make these music treats, cereal for your family’s breakfast table or for that interesting recipe you found online, look for select Post cereal boxes with the SING movie Sweepstakes on the box.

You can find Honey Bunches of Oats (Honey Roasted, Strawberry or Almond), Honey Comb, Grape Nuts and Golden Crisp cereal with this special packaging in all Walmart stores, in the cereal aisle.

To enter the SING Sweepstakes, you will need to enter the code printed inside the specially marked cereal box on the website. Your entry puts you into a pool of entrants eligible to win the grand prize of $100,000 or play the instant challenge for a chance to win free movie tickets. While on the site you can also answer a short quiz to see which SING movie character you are most like.

I guess it’s no surprise I got Rosita!

I’m excited for SING to come out but I think I’m more excited to see the kids’ reactions when I surprise them with the music treats and tickets.
