There’s something special about receiving handmade gifts.
I love faith-inspired gifts like this and gifts with Bible verses.
This particular gift was made by my oldest a few years ago and still has a special place in my heart.
If you were looking for wooden cross craft ideas, this one is a must-do for many reasons.
It’s easy, elegant, and a precious reminder of the sacrifice made on the Cross for our sake.
Materials Needed To Make This Wooden Cross Decor Gift
- 5″ unfinished wood slices/ wood rounds.
- 1″ wooden craft clothespins.
- Scrabble tiles (optional)
- Glue gun
The Scrabble tiles are optional.
You may choose to omit them or do a word of your choice.
I chose the word “Hope.”
The word serves as a reminder that Christ’s death and resurrection from the dead give us a reason to hold onto His Word, His Promises.
Hope in Christ will never disappoint. (Romans 5:5)
How to Make A Cross Using Clothespins
This is really a quick and easy process once you have your glue gun heated and ready to go.
1. Place the sliced wood long side up and start placing two clothes pin in the center (vertical length) a few centimeters from the top.
2. Now carefully place 2 clothespins horizontally with the ears facing the right, making sure the ends of the clothespin on the top right side and that of the top horizontal right clothespin touch.
3. Do this for the next pair with ears facing the left.
4. Finish off the cross by vertically placing a pair of clothespins upside down.
And another pair below that.
Look at the photographs for reference.
5. Once everything is set up and aligned the way you would like it to look, hot glue the clothespins to the wood slice.
I love how beautiful this looks!
You could stop here and gift this as a wooden cross decor piece for the wall.
