Using the Lord’s Prayer as a model, introducing prayer and how to pray is a little simpler to remember with the TACOS prayer.

This prayer acronym is a simple way to remember to pray not just for oneself, but also to direct praise and thanksgiving to God, pray for forgiveness, and others.

The origins of who first created this clever acronym are unclear, but as a Kids Ministry leader, I can attest that this has been so helpful for our elementary kids to remember the different elements of prayer.

Teach Kids To Pray Using TACOS!

The TACOS prayer model is an acronym to help kids remember the different elements to include in their prayers, ensuring they are not just reciting a daily prayer for themselves.

“T” stands for Thank – Thanking God for everything He has done and everything He will do.

“A” stands for Adore– Praising and worshipping God for who He is. Example- Praising God for being our Provider, our Healer, our Protector, our Father.

“C” stands for Confess– Asking God for forgiveness, while confessing any wrongdoings we have done.

“O” stands for Others– Praying for the needs of others.

“S” stands for Self– Finally closing out the prayer with one’s needs, requests.
