Excitement to see old friends, nervousness in being in a new class, uncertainty with what being in an older grade entails, joy in being in that teacher’s class that they’ve heard about from older siblings, and possibly even sadness with summer fun coming to an end…

As parents/guardians/Kids Ministry leaders, we know we will pray for our kids as they start the new year. For little ones, sometimes, praying can be a little challenging when navigating through different back-to-school emotions; hence, this printable prayer for a new school year could help. 
A Simple Back To School Prayer Card
This first day of school prayer (or daily prayer, for the school year) begins with gratitude for the new year, and then follows with reminders to be a good listener, an excited learner, a loving friend, and a kind helper. 
The prayer continues with an encouraging promise rooted in Psalm 16, that God will always be with them, and that He has the best plans for them. (Jeremiah 29:11)
The prayer finally closes out with a call to shine bright for Jesus, with the verse from Matthew 5:16- “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
Materials Recommended to Print The Back To School Prayer Card
As a Kids Ministry leader for our elementary grades, I created these cards and handed them out to the kids with glow sticks, to tie in a visual reminder for Matthew 5:16, to shine bright!
(Note: You can tape the glow stick to the card or loop it through two parallel holes created with a hole punch.)
The kids loved receiving the glow sticks, and the parents appreciated the cards.
