My Mama Says…

  • Prayer is important. {My mother follows a ‘never-skip’,  early morning discipline in prayer and Bible reading}
  • Breakfast is your most important meal of the day {Growing up our breakfasts were like feasts loaded with fruit, nuts, eggs, cereal et al. Whew!}
  • Taking time to look good always boosts your self confidence. {Isn’t it amazing how transformed a simple haircut can make you feel}
  • If you have a problem, don’t waste your time talking to everybody. Go straight to the “Top Guy” and sort it out. {My sister and I always knew if someone “messed” with us they had Mama Tiger to deal with!}
  • Your education is something nobody can steal from you. {Her persistence to ensure I finished my M.B.A. before I got married didn’t seem fair at the time. But today I appreciate her stand 100%!}
  • Eating right as a child has its benefits when you’re an adult. {Yes Ma, I see the wisdom in that now. Though the fruit shakes, almonds and piles of veggies weren’t something I looked forward to growing up}
  • Family is important. Take the time to introduce your children not just to the immediate family but also to their extended family.
  • Always have a little “black bag” packed with essential documents/papers. God forbid if there ever be an emergency, you just need to grab that bag and run out of your home!
  • Life is short. Make the most of each day.

Thank You Ma for your wisdom, love and example over the years. Though I may not say it as often as I should, you need to know that you are appreciated, honored and loved not just on Mother’s Day but every day.

Is there something your Mother has said that has become a pearl in your necklace of Mommy wisdom?

  1. Oh, I need to put together a bag of all the important papers. Most of them are in our fire box at least but lugging that thing out of the house could be intense!

    Happy Mother’s Day!

  2. Thank YOU….it is fantastic to see the tips being used and quoted on by my beautiful daughters…and so it will go on and on…esp. as I can see prominent shades in Bunny Girl and Bunny Boo 🙂

  3. My Mom and Grandma taught me to support your kids even if you didn’t agree with what they doing (nothing that would harm anyone of course)
