Making a Decorative Fall Fruit Platter in under $5 {A Kids DIY}

This post contains editorial samples and/or affiliate links to products I recommend. While this adds no additional cost to you, I will earn a small commission on any sales made.

My kids love getting into my craft drawer to pull out random papers, sequins, paints and what-nots to create fun masterpieces. I love that there is no right or wrong with them. They get creative, have fun and at the end of the day, feel incredibly accomplished with their final creations.

I try to keep our drawers stacked, mostly with inexpensive materials picked up when the Craft stores have a sale or from Dollar Tree.

Earlier on in the month, we stopped by our local Dollar Tree store to pick up supplies to put together a fun Fall project for our home. It was hard to narrow it down to what we wanted thanks to the number of crafting options set before us, but we finally decided on what we would do…

Yes, this is something older kids can put together independently and little kids, with a little help from you.

Materials Needed:

A Fall inspired platter

A pack of artificial Fall leaves

1 glass bowl/container (preferably fish-bowl shaped)

Permanent Glue Dots (Or a hot glue gun for older children.)

Note: We picked everything needed from Dollar Tree for a dollar each, except the Glue Dots. Mama always has a stock of these in the craft drawers!

Now all you need to do, is have your child fix a glue dot behind each leaf and make rows starting from the bottom, going around, ensuring each leaf overlaps the other.

We did alternate our colored leaves row-wise or you can just have your child, take a free reign and just stick the leaves on any way they want. Just make sure you give them instructions to ensure the glass is covered completely.

Once completed, stick a glue dot at the bottom of the glass bowl and fix the bowl in the center of your platter.

Now have your child arrange the fruit around it and stick some healthy snack bars in the bowl and place your Decorative Fall Fruit Platter on your dining table. This now serves as your family’s If-You’re-Hungry-And-Need-A-Snack-Feel-Free-To-Help-Yourself snack station.

If you have some battery run tea-light candles around, pick up a a few extra bowls and 1-2 extra Fall leaf packets and make candle holders that can be placed around the living room or even in the bedroom.

I love that these are so easy to make, so inexpensive and just perfect for Fall.
