We took the children to the beach two days ago. Both my babies are water babies and it was Bunny Boo’s first visit to the beach so he was thrilled.
Water, water and more water!

He’s at that age now where he feels he can handle it all. Yes all 14 months of him!!

He was insistent Hubby allow him to stand in the water without holding his hand.He didn’t know that his little body would not be able to stand against the sweeping waves or be able to stand firm upon the disappearing sand under his feet.

After several shrieks of protest and crocodile tears, Hubby let go and just stood close by to watch. It didn’t take long for a wave to roll in and topple our confident little adventurer over, splashing salty cold water all over his face and drenching him from head to foot.

We now had on our hands an upset little baby who just couldn’t understand what had just happened and why he was soaking wet and tasted nothing but salt!

All he needed now was to be held and reassured that he was safe.

Watching Bunny Boo reminded me of the way we are with God at times.

It’s not always that we listen to His Voice through His Word (the Bible), through people He sends across our paths or even through a devotion we may have just read. Yes there are those times when we’re required to take a crucial decision and we think that we know the best way to take it, without seeking the counsel of God.

It’s only when life’s waves of chaos and uncertainty sweep us of our feet and we realize that we’re sinking into more of a mess than we were in, that we turn around looking for God’s help.

You may be facing a situation in your life today that needs direction. Don’t take that decision resting upon your wisdom. Turn to God’s Wisdom in His Word and talk it over with Him in prayer. You will see that God will help you through it beautifully. Just trust Him on this.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6)

  1. A great analogy and love the pic. Sometimes it’s hard to let our children learn the hard way.

  2. It can be hard for me to let my little boo (9 months now) do things on her own, but I know she needs to learn. She certainly does seek me when she needs help though!

  3. My little one is 4. I agree that letting go and letting them learn things the hard way is not easy at all. We definitely need to leave it up to God, although sometimes it is very difficult.

  4. What a beautiful post…the picture and the content…very encouraging…the Proverb you mentioned is one of my favs….thank you for sharing
