There are so many things to do in Jerusalem with kids when planning a trip to Israel for families. We’ve shared glimpses of the city in our previous posts, but we wanted to give you an idea of specific things you can do with your kids when visiting Jerusalem.
Things To Do in Jerusalem With Kids
These are some of our favorite things that we did on our recent trip to Israel that we thought would be perfect for families!
Visit the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo
This isn’t just any zoo! It houses a menagerie of animals from the Old Testament time period. And on Fridays, visitors can meet the zoo’s elephants as they walk around outside their habitat. Read more here.
Eat lunch at the Machane Yehuda Market
A vibrant market in the heart of Jerusalem, this is the perfect place to pick up some fresh Israeli produce or some falafel from a street vendor. The sights, colors, and sounds of the market are so fun — grab a coffee or ice cream and sit and watch the people go by! Get more info here.
Climb the walls of the Old City
Old City Jerusalem is much more than just a bunch of old buildings! Older children will enjoy scaling the walls during the Ramparts Walk — it’s especially fun right before sunset! Get more info here.
View the Night Spectacular at the Tower of David
This fun light show is perfect for children. It shows the history of Jerusalem through a fabulous show cast upon the walls of the Tower of David. It reminded me of the night shows at Disney — I kept expecting to see Tinker Bell! Get more info here.
Experience the Bible Lands Museum
Admission is free for children on Saturday — and there is tons to do for them! With activity booklets, storytime, and exhibitions geared specifically toward children, you’ll want to add this stop to your trip. Get more info here.
