Omni Colonnade’s Kids Suites…the hotel room your kids will never leave!

This post contains editorial samples and/or affiliate links to products I recommend. While this adds no additional cost to you, I will earn a small commission on any sales made.

We’ve stayed in quite a few kid-friendly hotel properties with the kids. But nothing has ever stood close to the Kids Suites at Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade.

When this property says “Kids Rule!”, they mean it!

Irrespective of whether you stay in a Kids Suite or a Deluxe Room,  your child will get an Omni Sensational Kids backpack.

The backpack comes filled with a soft ball, a magnifying glass, small box of crayons, a map of the city, activities, a tiny frisbee, jacks and Twizzlers.

And as part of the Kids Program, guests can request complimentary milk and cookies for their little ones, the night they check in.

{While staying at an Omni, you can also request to borrow a backpack filled with toys, games and books to tide your child through the stay.}

Omni Kids Suites…Wow!

If you have that extra moo-lah stashed away for a swanky suite, I’d say put it into a Kids Suite instead.

It is so worth the expression on your child’s face when he/she steps into the room!

.

Nope, your eyes aren’t seeing things. That really is a mini basketball court in the room!

Whoever designed this suite is a genius. It has fun stamped on it with big, bold, letters!!

The suite includes

  • Yes, the mini basketball court
  • A hopscotch mat
  • A creative corner to draw, write, play games, eat
  • 2 television screens with DVD players or the option to play an xBox game
  • Reading nooks and
  • An absolutely rad kids bathroom.

.

It doesn’t stop there!

Then there are the tiny details…

  • The glow in the dark stars on the ceiling
  • The Etch and Sketch boards
  • The collection of books, board games and DVDs
  • An assortment of crazy hats
  • A blackboard
  • Bean bags

.

.

So where do Mom and Dad sleep?

Why, right next door ofcourse!

Mom and Dad’s quiet zone is definitely nothing to complain about. Unless ofcourse you’re a kid at heart and you really wished the kids would switch with you!

.

.

I would recommend signing up for Omni’s Select Guest Loyalty Program. Signing up is free and comes with some wonderful incentives. (The biggest one for me being free Wi-Fi in the room!)

.

.

Hospitality…their second name!

When we’ve stayed as a guest in hotels, we’ve always received a welcome note, on arrival.

But the Omni Colonnade (I know the hotel is known otherwise but this is my short name for the property. Quicker to say!) went a step further. They sent my children a welcome note and a platter filled with mud, worms and pebbles…my kids were over the moon!

It didn’t stop there. If you follow me on Facebook, you’d have seen this posted…

The Front office team actually took the time out to personally sign out that little card. And put together a bunch of energy snack-ons, after our long day at SeaWorld, on day 2 at the hotel.

It was a small gesture but one that spoke volumes.

What about food?

The hotel houses Bolo’s Rotisserie Grill which is moderately priced. The food is delish and their award-winning tortilla soup a must-try.

.

I personally thought the breakfast buffet was a little pricey. So also the coffee and eats from Morsels, the inhouse coffee shop. So we did a Starbucks breakfast which worked out great on both mornings.

Starbucks is a mere 5 minute walk from the hotel and if you have your own car, HEB is less than a 5 minute drive away too!

E.B. Mommy’s Stamp of Approval?

You bet!

Our stay at the Colonnade marked our first ever in an Omni property.

And like I told the Sales Director, the team at the Colonnade took hospitality to a whole new level. Thanks to them, they’ve set the Omni bar real high.

The hotel may not have a host of in-house activities to jump in on. But they do offer fun packages you can jump in on this summer.

And if you decide to splurge on a Kids Suite, you can just forget about doing anything else!
