  1. You can function on three hours of sleep and do it all over again the next day.
  2. You clean that food smudge on your child’s face with your saliva.
  3. The thought of a poopy diaper does not gross you out anymore.
  4. “The wheels on the bus” is the song that rings on in your head all morning.
  5. You don’t know who won the Oscars for best original music score but do know that the Fresh Beat Band has released their first CD.
  6. You happily finish a half chewed on sandwich
  7. You can skillfully change your baby’s diaper in the dark, on your lap  or even while making your little one stand just because the thought of the germs on that public changing table gets to you.
  8. You’re excited to watch the Lorax because you don’t have to cover your child’s eyes or ears to censor anything!
  9. You spend 20 minutes dressing the kids to look all spiffy for church on Sunday morning and then realize you have less than 5 minutes left to throw on whatever is ironed. (And it doesn’t matter that you wore the same thing two weeks ago! Atleast it’s ironed, right?)
  10. You know who Lightening McQueen, Mater, Doc Hudson, Finn McMissile and Holly Shipwell are.
  11. You love going on vacation and staying in a hotel because YOU don’t have to do the beds, cook the meals or clean up!
  12. The sound of loud chatter, giggles and screams is comforting. Silence is worrying…unless ofcourse your child is asleep or older!
  13. A drool slobbered clumsy kiss and undisturbed minutes of cuddle time with a wriggling bundle of giggles means the world to you.

  1. LOL Yes….I’m definitely a mommy : ) While I’m not grossed out by a poopy diaper, I still like to “share the love” with the hubby haha! And we JUST saw The Fresh Beat Band….guilty as charged : )

    1. Lol!! We soooo would have taken dottie but they’re sold out. She doesn’t know they’re touring so we’re ok!! 😉

  2. You know you are a Mommy when the sight of blood doesn’t send you flying to an ER. Instead you say, rub a little dirt in it and keep playing.

    Great post!

  3. I agree with these! Especially the first one, hah. I use some time at the end of the day for “me time” and it gives me less sleep but I really need to unwind from the day. I can sleep when my kids grow up! 🙂

    1. Ha ha! That’s right! Our out of town trip to the children’s museum tom is my big highlight of the week!!

  4. You know you’re a mommy when you consider not opening the treat you brought for yourself out in the open. But, you do it anyway and wind up with one tiny piece once the kids are done saying “can I have some?, can I taste that?”. All you can do is chuckle, who can say no? No that’s a mommy for you!

Stopping by from the 100 Comments event.

    1. Tell me about it. In the past sharing chocolate was soooo hard, now I’m happy if I get even a crumb (if you can call a chocolate speck that!)…but it honestly doesn’t hurt anymore! 😉

  5. I can relate and agree with you on a few of those.

And to the 4th comment that is so true. Its just a little blood…nothing is broken 🙂

    1. True. I always tell Hubby it’s important to gauge the intensity of the cry. Shrieking screams means you need to run, else you can sit and finish that sandwich!

    1. Lol! The new one in my head is “She’ll be coming round the mountain…Toot!Toot!” Wheels on the bus was definitely less annoying. The tooting is getting to me!!

  6. I know that I am a mom because our house has Max and Ruby pretty much on a constant cycle. Even when my little boy isn’t watching it, he loves to have it on in the background.

  7. Currently functioning on four hours. 🙂

I am terrible now about being late because I was finding the right outfit for my daughter and realized on the way out the door I was not wearing a bra, shoes, pants, etc.

I haven’t got into the Fresh Beat Band yet although my cousin took her boys last week. I’m still into The Wiggle’s.

    1. I’m sorry I had to burst out laughing thinking about you walking out without all the essentials!!
Oh yes the Wiggles…”Cold Spaghetti Cold Spaghetti!!”

  8. How about surviving on 1.5 hours of sleep? I did that one night when my son was in high school and we didn’t know where he’d gone after his football game. It turns out he was at a friend’s house who had no cell phone service and he said he HAD told us about it but we had let it go in one ear and out the other!

  9. Makes me long for the good ole days when my kids were small. At times, I didn’t think a day would ever come to an end, but it happened all too quickly. Enjoy them now. They grow up so fast. Happy day! Deb

  10. When you know all the words to the VeggieTales theme song and all the songs on Yo Gabba Gabba

    1. Ok. Ready Lisa? A 1 and a 2 and a 3….

“IF YOU LIKE TO TALK TO TOMATOES….”

      😉

    1. 🙂 It’s funny how our priorities and “likes” change as soon as we have kids, right?

  11. Very cute post. My oldest turned 17 today, which seems unreal. It’s so true that these years fly by quickly. Enjoy!

  12. You know your a mommy when the idea of missing them learn anything fills you with a soft sorrow. I love being a homeschool mother, and I love that those first moments of learning new things are not lost on a teacher who will never remember that moment the way I will! 🙂

    Love this post! – littlecrunchy.com

    1. I’ve always wished I had the patience to homeschool. I have so much respect for women who do. I know 2 wonderful women with more than 3 kids who homeschool and they’re such blessings!

  13. Beautiful, that’s all I can say.
Motherhood sure changes your perspective about a lot of things in life.
And that is a good, good thing.

  14. Cute Post. My kids are are all older now so I am out of the loop on the veggie tales, Wiggles and the Fresh Beat Band. Time goes by way to fast….

    1. It does. My oldest turns 6 tomorrow. Remember the baby in my arms as if it were yesterday

  15. These made me giggle… I should create a similar list for pet parents. A house full of pets presents some challenges too!

  16. Before I had kids I swore I would never use saliva to clean my kids faces. However, I find myself doing it all the time now. It’s convenient and quick!

    1. And it’s available without rummaging through an overflowing bag for wipes!! 😉

  17. So true, this list. Stuff does not gross me out anymore either, and I’ll eat anything even if it was already in my boy’s mouth. I love giggles and you’re right, silence is too weird.

  18. # 1 applies to gradute students ie me. lol. I’m only an aunt so I still can’t take a poopy diaper without getting grossed out. lol.

    1. Oh don’t worry. The day you become a Mommy that “gross puky” feeling will just miraculously disappear!

  19. You are a mommy when you experience all these and still smiles.
    I love this this post.

  20. Mom and grandma! I have to add … You know you’re a mom when you feel as if you live in your car/van/suv! I remember my weeks filled with navigating between elementary, middle and high school, Boy Scouts, piano lessons, dance lessons, sports practice and games … all in one day! Now I’m watching my DIL do it and I’m so happy I can help out. ;D

  21. You confirmed it I really am a mom. Funny how moms can relate to all of the crazy things we go through. 🙂

  22. Love it! You know you’re a mommy when your tag says MomTaxi!

  23. 🙂 LOVE IT -I do them all I think to one extent or the other! I would add “you LOVE to talk about your child’s poopy diapers for some odd reason” – I said I wouldn’t do it but… I do! 🙂 LOL

  24. #4… right now I cannot shake The Wiggles song out of my head! I love being a mommy! Cute list by the way!

  25. You know you’re a mommy when the veggie tales CD is playing, and you’re the only one in the car and you’re still singing along! I love the list! It’s all true!

    1. Ha!Ha! That happened to me the other day while driving solo to get some groceries done. You should try and get your hands on some Go Fish CDs.They’re just as awesome!!

    1. I’m a SAHM but love the reception I receive when I walk in after an hour away grocery shopping. 🙂

  26. When you can share your buttercream icing with your kids and know they love it because you do.

  27. soooooooooo true!! almost all of these have happened to me. what a crazy, wonderful life we live with children, right?

  28. You know you’re a mommy when you have absolutely no privacy!

  29. Love the post! And you know you’re a Mommy when the thought of an hour alone, in the quiet, sounds like the most amazing thing that could ever happen to you. LOL.

  30. Number nine is me every Sunday. . .I spend forever making my kids look nice and then I’m throwing myself together at the last minute! You also know you’re a mom if your car smells like fruit snacks or goldfish crackers (or maybe just the car seats!)

    1. Join the Club. I have a little one with the sniffles and disturbed sleep the past 2 nights!

  31. Haha great list! I would add you know you’re a mom when you find yourself running to the bathroom and locking it because it’s the only place you can get some peace and privacy to just breathe for a few minutes–and even that’s not guaranteed!

  32. Funny list – although I refuse to admit that I am any of those things! lol

  33. Those are great and I fit them all so I guess I’m a Mom! I also would say you know your a Mommy when….you’re asked what’s that on your shirt and you can correctly identify the stain source and which kid put it there!

  34. You have exposed my secret – I love hotels because not doing dishes is a big part of vacation! Just don’t tell my husband!

  35. #7 is the ultimate! The diaper changing tables always worried me. Actually, I think I did a stand-up diaper change in a minivan once! These were great! Thanks for the laugh.

  36. I’m not a mom yet, but I’m sure I’ll understand this better when I do. Great list!

  37. I’m not a mom but I enjoyed reading these. Some of them were entertaining and others I wondered if I could handle all the work it takes to be a good mom like you!

  38. Great post! My youngest daughter was never a cuddlier from the get go and when she started wanting to hold hands or curl up together on the couch when she was around 5 it melted my heart.

  39. You know you’re a mom when you store orphaned socks for future use as sock puppets.

    Thanks for a fun post!

  40. I love this post 🙂 #13 made me teary-eyed, so I’ll have to add #14: Talking about/thinking about your child(ren) makes you teary-eyed for no easily-explainable reason 🙂 Great post!
