At times when God speaks, it’s a still small voice…sometimes even a whisper. And it’s at times like these that He invites us to be still and know that He is God (Psalms 46:10).

You are the salt ( Day 30)

.

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”

(Matthew 5:13)

.

When I started to cook as a novice it wasn’t always easy to throw together a meal. It was more like a science for me.

I had to have instructions. The instructions needed to be precise. And I would follow through a recipe to the tee. If a recipe called for a teaspoon of salt plus three granules, I’m sure I would have picked out 3 granules with a microscope just to make sure I wasn’t making any mistakes!

Needless to say I’ve had several cooking mishaps. You know the ones-too much salt…too little salt?!

Today’s verse takes me back to the kitchen. Salt is a seasoning that needs to be added to any dish to kick up the flavor. Too much of it will kill a dish, too little of it will wash out any taste appeal completely.

The salt content in a dish will also trigger your thirst buds.

As Christians, Christ calls us the salt of the world…

people who bring Christ’s flavoring Presence and Love to this world,

people who make those around us thirst for the relationship we have in Christ.

May it be our prayer that we never be over-bearing, pushy Christians that leave a bad taste in anyone’s lives nor diluted Christians that live compromised lives that filter out only spurts of Christ on occasion.

May we season the lives of those around us with Christ in a way that leaves people thirsting to want to know Him,  grow in love with Him and walk in His Ways.

I pray that you will find comfort, encouragement and hope as you lean close to listen to God’s Whisper for your situation today.

Be blessed!
