It always helps to get some pointers especially if setting foot on a cruise liner is a new experience. Here are a few travel tips to help prepare you for a memorable holiday.

Destinations

The Mediterranean borders many countries, so some planning on the destinations you want to stop at is common sense before booking.

Touring the eastern Mediterranean provides the chance to see countries such as Turkey, Greece, Croatia and Egypt, while sailing the western Mediterranean can take you to Portugal, Italy, Spain, and Malta.

Take some time to decide on the places and attractions you want to see to find the best cruise itinerary that suits this.

Packing

Pack to suit the time of year you are traveling.

The Mediterranean climate can be hot and dry during the summer months although cooler and slightly wetter during the winter months, so take the clothing necessary for this. Also remember to include at least one dress outfit for more formal dining occasions.

You are sure to bring back some souvenirs of your travels, therefore leave some space in suitcases to make this easy to do.

Guide Book

A Mediterranean guide book can be a useful purchase before your vacation. It can help plan what you want to see and will usually have some basic words and phrases in the languages of the various countries around the Mediterranean region.

Locals always appreciate someone that takes the time to learn a little of their language, so take advantage of a guide book to do so.

There are a number of companies that offer cruises of the Mediterranean and the choices range from short two to three day breaks to longer two week adventures. Finding a suitable itinerary that visits the ports of call you want to see should therefore be possible.
