How to Make Your Fall Clothing Budget Work

Everything about cooler weather reminds me of the holidays, my favorite time of the year. And even as we roll past the middle of September, I see my closet needs a desperate overhaul. If you’re like me, I can’t justify spending an arm and a leg on fall clothing… especially while living in South Texas where colder temperatures roll away quicker than a sneeze! So yes, I stalk sales and great bargains.

A Banana Republic Sale You don’t want to miss!

I love trendy, comfortable looks that don’t involve a lot of maintenance, so when Banana Republic has a sale, it’s worth the peek especially when it’s their popular Friends and Family event with 50% off all clothing, yes, even anything from their new fall collections.

I live in jeans  and love long cardigans, so this look is definitely something I could see myself wearing, except I would switch out the pink top for a dark green olive or navy, a metallic colored scarf and go for the ribbed cardigan in charcoal gray.

I really like the cropped denim jacket in this look, in both colors- black and white.

It would pair nicely with anything in my closet.

Oh, did you notice the complementing face masks?

Being this is our reality at least for a good number of months forward, you may want to take a look at the face mask options they have for the family. (Yes, kids included.) Yes, all masks have an internal pocket for inserts.

tips for Shopping for fall clothing, when on a budget

If you’re on a tight budget, remember these two simple tips:

  1. Buy tops/bottoms that can be easily mixed and matched with existing pieces in your closet.
  2. Accessorize.

The first is self-explanatory. Take this boat-neck sweater top in white, for example. Pair it with a skirt you own, jeans or even trousers. And the color works for Fall and the holidays.

Second, dress up any look with accessories- scarves, jewelry, a bag, headbands, even a pair of contrasting colored shoes!

I love anything with print and think this floral layering scarf would make any casual look pop.
