I have to be honest when I say we haven’t been consistent in collecting Box Tops for the kids’ school. But with Little Man starting Kindergarten this year we thought this would be a fun way to keep him excited about big kids school.
Get your child involved in collecting Box Tops for school
Though it may not seem like a big deal, Box Tops are HUGE for schools.
Each clipped Box Tops gets a school $0.10.
So if 2000 kids bring in a bare minimum of 25 Box Tops each, in an academic year, that school can get $5000 easily.
But sadly most families throw out Box Tops and think their $0.10 that day won’t make a big difference.
That’s where we can bring change. Get the kids involved.
1. Teach your child to keep an eye out for products you need, while at the grocery store. Ask them to pick the pack that does carry Box Tops on the same.
Now I understand you may have brand preferences but there are always opportunities to pick an alternate brand (with Box Tops) when being the parent to bring snacks after the soccer game, taking treats for the class party or even for Food Bank donations.
2. Keep an eye out for promotions that offer extra Box Tops.
To celebrate Back To School, several products on the Walmart shelves had 5 Box Tops to a pack. Woohoo!
3. Have your child clip off the Box Tops as soon as you get home to ensure you don’t forget later on.
4. Have a Box Tops collection box in an accessible place where everyone can see the same and ensure all Box Tops are put into the same box each time.
5. Mark a date on the calendar, each month, for your child to empty the contents of that box and hand over the same to a school official.
This is important as there have been times we’ve tried to fill our box and in the event have had some Box Tops expire.
Once you get your child on board, you will find you will be more consistent in collecting Box Tops. On top of it all, your child gains responsibility in handling this task and his school benefits immensely by the same.
