Just before the new school year began, my daughter’s Girl Scout troop hosted their bridging ceremony for the girls moving on from being Brownies to Juniors. My daughter was one of them.

A bridging ceremony is a celebratory ceremony for Girl Scouts moving from one age level to the next.

Dottie’s troop is unique in the sense it has less than 10 girls (on purpose) and is made up of girls from different schools, brought together by one unifying factor…

friendship.

This past year was Dottie’s first year as a Girl Scout and watching her accomplish new challenges, grow in personality and bond with her Girl Scout sisters, has been special.

To commemorate the Girl Scouts bridging, her troop leaders organized a beautiful, intimate celebration at our local birding center. The locale (bridge and all) couldn’t have been more perfect.

Troop parents were invited to bring a dish to share as we spent the rest of the evening with the families, celebrating our girls.

I decided to take dessert (I know! I seem to be signing up to take dessert wherever I go!!) but wanted it to be symbolic of the girls’ big day.

So I narrowed down to making brownies and being hard pressed for time, pulled out my Sweetworks candy stash to bring it all together!

Brownie Bites Rainbow for a Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony

This is such an easy idea and one that does look beautiful (and symbolic) on the table laden with bridging ceremony treats and eats. You don’t have to bake your brownie bites from scratch. Use a box mix or if you really feel you have no baking bone whatsoever in you, just buy a box of brownie bites from Sam’s Club.

If you do want a recipe that we love, try my Chocolate Walnut Spinach Brownies recipe. (Yes, you read right….spinach! If you aren’t too excited about trying it out with the spinach, just omit the same!)

Once the brownie bites cool, arrange them on a tray/platter,  in the shape of an arch, to form a rainbow. (I couldn’t find a wide enough tray at home hence my rainbow is a little squashed and I could only fit in three bands in my rainbow. You can do as many bands as you like, if you have the space)

Now take your Sweetworks candy or M & Ms and gently press the same into each brownie bite, ensuring each band holds the same color.

And there you have it…

the perfect dessert (and incredibly easy one to do!) to take to a Girl Scout bridging ceremony!

Do you know what the colors in the Girl Scout Rainbow stand for?

Each color in the GSUSA Girl Scout Sign of the Rainbow relates to one of the Five Worlds of Interest in Girl Scouting plus the Junior Aide patch. Each color is also one step towards earning the Girl Scout Sign of the Rainbow.
Red is for the World of Health and Fitness.
Orange is for the World of Science and Technology.
Yellow is for Exploring the Out-of-Doors.
Green is for the Junior Aide patch.
Blue is for World Citizens.
Purple is for Arts Around the World.
The Five Worlds of Interest were part of the Girl Scout program starting in 1977 when the “Worlds to Explore: Handbook for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts” was first published.
