We’re trying to raise our children to be kind, helpful and sensitive to the needs of those around them.

Finding ways to help our community

Over the next week or so, we will be dropping off gently loved on books to the Little Free Library outside our local museum. We will also be visiting our local hospital’s pediatric cancer wing to deliver the brand new books, toys and games received from brands for our Giving Christmas Away Event this year. Little acts of love that bring great joy to the recipients.

Each year, since the past 6 years, to celebrate the season of giving, Hasbro and generationOn (the youth division of Point of Light) host the annual Joy Maker Challenge. This is part of Hasbro’s BE FEARLESS BE KIND initiative to inspire and empower kids to have the empathy, compassion, and courage to stand up for others and be inclusive throughout their lives.

This year they will celebrate the 7th year of doing this and through the same, the 100 Kindness Ambassadors pre-selected from various applications earlier this year, will donate 100 Hasbro toys to their local causes.

Over and beyond this, Hasbro and generationOn are inviting any child, teen and adult who volunteers on any project, from November 23rd 2016 – December 23rd 2016, to visit the Joy Maker site and share their story. By doing so, for each story submitted, Hasbro will donate a toy or game to Toys for Tots, up to a value of 1 million US dollars!

What a blessing.

Have you helped serve your community? Would you help bless a child with a toy by logging in your volunteer story?

If you need inspiration on projects to do as a family or even identify a need in your locality, visit the Joy Maker site.

Since 2010, when the Joy Maker campaign first started, over 960,000 volunteer acts of service have been logged in and thereby enabled Hasbro to donate 6 million dollars’ worth of toys to Toys for Tots. Let us add to those numbers, in a big way, this year.
