The Desires Of Your Heart (God Whispers-4)

God Whispers…The Desires Of Your Heart (Day 4)

Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
(Psalms 37:4- Amplified Bible)

Go to any children’s concert/show and you will see how infuriating it gets when it’s close to interval time and they send out those vendors with the hugest, most colorful balloons you have ever seen.
It doesn’t stop there. They then parade up and down in front of your child till your little one thinks the world would come to an end if he/ she didn’t own that balloon! ((Ugh!!))
I don’t have anything against balloons but why would I, in my right mind, think of shelling out 10$ on a balloon that will be a crumpled piece of foil at home, the next morning?

Mid last year we took the children to watch Sesame Street Live and during the interval, lo and behold those pesky vendors appeared again waving their Elmo balloons in our children’s faces as if they were horses waiting to take a big chomp out of those dangling carrots!
Hubby and I explained to Bunny girl that it didn’t make sense to spend that much money on something that would last for a few hours and waited to see how she’d react. She surprised us by quietly responding “Ok” and that was it. She didn’t ask us again though we did catch her looking at the balloons longingly.

After the show, on the drive back, we told her how proud we were of the way she behaved. Hubby also added that God would honor her for her instant obedience and stellar behavior in the days to come and you know what?…
He did!

The next day was a Sunday. We met a dear friend after church and invited her home as she’d just returned from a 3 month vacation. She walked into our home holding a big box and told us that she met a family during her travels and that she’d talked to that family about our little Bunny girl. She said that the husband immediately asked if she would carry back a present for our child and had given her the box and asked for it to be given to our little one. Bunny girl was thrilled! Excitedly she tore open the wrapping and as she reached in to pull out her big gift.
Hubby and I just gasped in amazement….

It was a large, talking-singing-story telling Big Bird toy!

About a month prior to us going to the Sesame Street Live show, God had already moved in a man’s heart several states away to bless our child with a Sesame Street toy to fulfill her heart’s desire to own something from Sesame Street. He honored her obedience to her parents and blessed the “secret petition” of her heart.
God’s heart for my child humbled me and overwhelmed me with so much gratitude for His Love towards us.

You desire may not be as small as my Bunny girl’s, it may be mammoth size or it may even be a smaller “I wish” your heart may have.
I know this, that if that desire is important to you, it’s just as important to God because His Love for you is so great.
Lift up your heart to Him in prayer and stand on His Word.
He assures you that if you will delight/please yourself greatly in the things of God, you will see that He is faithful to fulfill the desires of your heart, in His Will.
