Every child is an artist.
Place random art supplies on a table and ask your child to create anything he wants.
Last evening the kids spent close to 2 hours making some amazing creations, none of which have been guided or directed by me in any way.
By the end of the evening we had clothes pin dragonflies, a clothes pin snake, a popsicle stick and flexible bending stick fence, a popsicle stick jail, tulips, butterflies and crayon masterpieces.
Gymboree’s Let’s Color Together Initiative
With school starting up soon, we have all our school supplies ready. I’m thankful that we have the means to provide for the things our children need for the new school year. But there are many parents who can’t say the same because of circumstances they can’t control or change. Would you believe that over 1.7 million children don’t have the means to take coloring and art supplies to school this year?
That’s where Gymboree’s Let’s Color Initiative steps in.
Gymboree has teamed up with DonorsChoose.org to provide art and coloring supplies to students nationwide from 7/20/2015 to 9/7/2015. Gymboree’s goal is to fulfill at least one classroom request in every county where there is a Gymboree retail location. Money donated will go to projects in highest need schools based on requests placed by teachers on the DonorsChoose.org website.
And yes, you can be a part of this initiative too.
One way to help would be by donating art supplies to a school in your community. Another way would be by supporting Gymboree through your purchases this back to school season.
Even if your kids wear uniforms at school, like my children do, consider picking up pieces for after school activities, school events or weekend outings.
Dottie fell in love with a simple, pretty, pink poppy colored sweater dress from the latest Ciao Puppy collection.
Because my 9 year old has stretched out quite a bit over the summer, the size 12 dress works better as a tunic paired with leggings. She loves the fit and comfort factor so much that she has asked me to see if I can find something similar in other colors or styles!
Little Man has to wear khakhi pants to school, so we picked up the Prep Fit Chino pants and the Gym Navy Striped Rugby shirt from the new All Star Collection for boys.
For Baby Girl, I picked the Pleated Dots Dress for her to wear to church or for a special outing.
With her uncanny knack for being drawn to all things messy, the dark colors will perfectly mask the smudges, spills and mini dirt accidents!
The dress is a little big on her but I prefer for her to grow into the same and have our Gymboree picks last longer that way!
