The kids love it when Dad gets into the kitchen because no two dishes made ever tastes the same. You see my husband is the sort of person who just throws things together, never follows a recipes, relies heavily on taste and smell to bring a dish to life.
And the outcome is always delicious.
This month H-E-B celebrates The Amazing Sandwich Extravaganza with numerous sandwich options from bread varieties to sandwich toppers and an assortment of filler choices.
This month’s Primo Picks selection contained a hand picked selection of products from what is available in store. Enough inspiration for Hubs to say he wanted to make us a sandwich that even a newbie cook could put together.
I do know that the Cocinaware Square Grill Pan and the Grill Press also had a great deal in influencing the voluntary offer to help!
All set to whip up an easy sandwich?
Easy Chicken Fillet Sandwich Recipe
This 6 ingredient chicken fillet is so easy to put together, thanks to the use of the Umami Bomb Seasoning. There is a considerable spice kick to the same but when combined with the buttermilk, the spice levels do get tapered down.
Feel free to add or reduce the seasoning based on taste preferences.
- 1 lb boneless raw chicken breast- halve each breast to fillet the same.
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 tsp Umami seasoning
- Regular Panko bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- Coconut oil enough to shallow fry the fillets
-
Marinate the fillets in a buttermilk and Umami Bomb seasoned bath for at least an hour, in the fridge.
-
Take two plates. In 1 scramble 1 raw egg and in the other add enough Panko bread crumbs to coat the fillets
-
Dip a fillet in the egg first and then cover the same with Panko bread crumbs.
-
Once done, heat the square grill pan with coconut oil. Once the oil is hot, place 3-4 fillets, based on space and cook on a low flame for about 10-15 minutes on either side.
-
(You can alternatively bake this at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes, based on thick your fillets are)
You can use any other oil of choice but coconut oil adds extra flavoring.
Now while your fillets are cooking, grab an onion and an assortment of red, green and yellow peppers. Slice all fine and gently saute the same in olive oil. Once the onions turn golden brown, add in a tablespoon of H-E-B’s Carolina Barbecue Sauce and saute for another 3-4 minutes.
The onions and pepper mixture will be added over your chicken fillet, in the sandwich, right below your choice of American Cheese or Pepper Jack cheese.
Your choice of bread will depend on your family’s preference. A burger bun will work great or gently toasted slices of Sandwich Bread.
If you would like additional heat to your sandwich, check out H-E-B’s Pepper Toppers. (I love spice but yow, this is spicy! The Aji peppers was my preference for the most subtle in heat levels!)

I’d love to know what your idea of an Amazing Sandwich is.

I make up a lot of dishes as I go. That, to me, is part of the fun of being in the kitchen. It also helps me with my writing on my website. That is how I learn what flavors work together and which don’t.
