Chris Gall’s book series, Dinotrux, has now come to life on Netflix and Little Man is a fan of the same.
He loves watching the hybrid part dino- part construction truck characters work as a team, solve problems and learn life’s lessons along the way.
Ty, the tyrannasaurus rex cum excavator, is his favorite while Revvit, the part chameleon and part electric drill, is a close second. To celebrate the recent discovery of the series, we played several Dinotrux inspired games that required the older two to work as a team to consider each challenge complete.
3 Dinotrux inspired games for kids.
1. Add new members to the Dinotrux family
Have the older kids help the younger ones list down the names of various dinosaurs and construction vehicles. Then get them to create new hybrid characters and have them enact their personalities.
Oh and don’t forget to name them too!
2. Host a scavenger hunt
Hide dino/construction themed treats in the house or outdoors but make the kids work together as a team to find the “treasure” using cue cards that will be hidden around in different secret spots.
(You can make your own river rocks or Ore Bites, check out my Dinotrux resource board for inspiration)
3. Dino Dig Race
Fill a large plastic storage tote or a tub with sand or packing peanuts. Hide underneath the same 15 plastic dinosaurs. Have the children use plastic spades/shovels only to “dig” out each dinosaur. Ensure this is done a child at a time. The winner is the “excavator” with the shortest dino rescue time.
I’m sure if I ask Little Man, he’ll be able to think up some more Dinotrux game ideas!
