On the inside

At times when God speaks, it’s a still small voice…sometimes even a whisper. And it’s at times like these that He invites us to be still and know that He is God (Psalms 46:10).

Join me as I share with you God Whispers that have that sustained, strengthened and encouraged me on my journey to be the Mommy and Wife God wants me to be.

On the inside.

Yesterday after church, my 6 year old ran up to us waving a pretty, pink necklace  in her hand. She’d won a prize at Sunday School because she answered a question right. We asked her what it was for and this is what she said…

We were shown a beautifully wrapped box with pink tissue on it and an ugly brown crumpled up bag. The teacher asked us, which of the two we would choose if we were asked to take one home. I put up my hand and said the brown, crumpled up bag and the teacher said I was right.

Because in the beautiful box was a dirty, old, smelly sock but in the ugly brown crumpled up bag, was my pretty, pink necklace.

To say we were speechless, would hardly describe the silence that followed her very mature, choice.

We asked her why she thought there would be something worthwhile in the brown paper bag and pat came the reply…

I remembered that beauty on the outside is not what counts but beauty on the inside.

What if all of us were able to embrace that in our hearts…

and live out each day with that understanding?

Can you even imagine, how different relationships with people would be?

We’re so judgmental and already draw up a picture of what a person is like in our minds, just by glancing at their physical appearance.

God wants us to look beyond the outer wrapping

beyond the world’s conceived standards of what is acceptable.

He wants us to look at people through His Eyes…

from the inside- out…

And that’s when His Love is put into action.

You may be the only channel of God’s Love that person you come across this week can experience…

desperately needs.

You just may be his/her last grasp for life, in a situation of complete despair.

Let this be our daily prayer, that He make us more sensitive to move in His Love, with His Heart

  1. What a wonderful lesson for the children to see something beautiful inside the crumpled bag. Thank you for sharing this.
