This year has gone by faster than any other year, in my memory. It could also be that this year has been incredibly busy on all fronts. A good kind of busy. And as I look back at old photographs I see so many beautiful memories captured but I don’t feature in a lot of them because I’ve been behind the camera.

5 New Year Resolutions as a Mom

I love taking photographs of my family but it’s slowly beginning to dawn on me that I need to change things in 2016 for my children’s sake. That and 4 other things are what I want to work towards to help make me a better Mom…

1. Make an effort to be in photographs

This requires more effort than usual, at least for me, but my children need to have photographs of me on every trip or outing we take. It doesn’t need to be a perfect photograph, I don’t need to look my best but the children need to look back on that memory and remember that Mama was there too.

2. Be present

I’m a huge multi-tasker but this results in me not being able to give my 100% attention to the activity I’m handling. This includes gettings things done with the children. In 2016, I don’t expect to have it all under control but I want to scale back and be able to give my children the undivided attention they deserve.

And yes, this includes setting  my phone and other technology on don’t-check limits when I’m doing things with the kids and Hubs.

There's no way to be a perfect mother, just a million ways to be a great one. MommySnippets.com

3. Start each day with ME time… in prayer, reading God’s Word and writing.

I want to make sure I consistently wake up between 4.30 and 5 every morning. I’m an early morning person and being able to spend time for myself, while everyone else at home is asleep, is important. Starting my day by reading God’s Word, praying and later spending a little time on the blog, makes the start of my day AWESOME!

As a Mom, it’s important you get your ME time.

4. Be bold to say NO!

If you’re like me, you will agree that it’s hard to say no and at times I tend to bite off more than I can chew. I need to learn to scale back, put my best into what I have committed and have time to just relax, not do anything and just enjoy the blessing of family.

5. Learn a new hobby or do something you love this year.

Splurge on learning a new hobby or pursuing something you really love doing.

Personally,  I would really love to learn how to use a sewing machine. (Dottie got one for Christmas so now’s a better time than any other!) And something I love doing…besides writing? Traveling with my family.

We love to travel and while visiting the same place frequently isn’t boring, it’s just so much more exciting to explore a new city and new attractions. (We loved our trip to Washington County, Texas this year. I really hope we can do similar trips this year)

Talking about hobbies, if you love to write,  have been contemplating creating a website and have a name picked out already then why don’t you take that leap this year?

Rather why don’t you take that leap NOW?

Start with choosing a unique Domain.ME domain name.
