Historic Downtown Shopping District

Main Street in Leesburg is more than 250 years old. Spending the day browsing the downtown shopping district puts you in touch with a wide variety of merchants, eateries and historic learning opportunities.

The streets are lined with the original brick sidewalks from long ago. Stroll past flowering trees and historic architecture as you visit art galleries or take part in one of several walking tours. During the summer, free concerts are held on the courthouse lawn as well.

Leesburg Animal Park

Leesburg Animal Park is situated on 21 sprawling acres. Fun activities include a petting area, live animal shows, pony and wagon rides and both indoor and outdoor playgrounds. The indoor playground is open year-round and features arts and crafts classes, a three level playground structure, live animal shows and a birthday party room.

Of course, there are animal exhibits at Leesburg Animal Park , where you’ll observe zebras, camels, white-handed gibbons, coatimundi and more. Sounds pretty exotic, doesn’t it?

Leesburg Corners Premium Outlets

If you love to shop, you don’t want to miss Leesburg Corners Premium Outlets. With recently added stores, it’s now an even better place to shop. Located on Fort Evans Road NE, Leesburg Corners is one of the best place to find deals on brands like Kate Spade, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Vera Bradley, Yankee Candles and more.

Frequent shoppers recommend visiting the outlets during weekday off-peak hours. Doing so, means you’re much more likely to run across a wider variety of discounted merchandise.

Morven Park Mansion & Museums

Morven Park‘s historical venue consists of Davis Mansion, The Museum of Hounds & Hunting of North America and The Winmill Carriage Museum.

Davis Mansion was home to two  governors. Thomas Swann Jr. utilized the residence as a summer home, before becoming the governor of Maryland. Virginia Gov. Westmorland Davis purchase a property in 1903.

The carriage museum is home to a total of 40 antique coaches, carts and sleds. Two of the carriages belonged to Gov. Davis himself.

The hunting museum encompasses three rooms of the mansion. Its mission is to preserve some of the artifacts and memorabilia of a sporting tradition that goes back centuries.

White’s Ferry

White’s Ferry is on the outskirts of Leesburg. Take a peaceful right across the Potomac River on this car ferry, the only remaining option in the area. Let’s face it, when was the last time you a rode a ferry? The kids are going to love it and it’s an easy shortcut to some of the less populated (and not to be missed) areas of Maryland.

If you’ve never had the opportunity to visit Leesburg, there’s no better time to do so.
