A few week’s before Baby Girl’s birth, a sweet friend invited the kids and me over, after school, so that the kids could have a play date. It was only after we stepped into her home that I realized it was all a set up. She had planned a surprise baby sprinkle shower for me. It took several days of planning and plotting behind my back to pull it off and honestly it was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me till date.
Since that day I’ve always prayed I could bless someone the way she did and pay forward the favor.
And this past weekend I was able to do just that.
Celebrate new life with a laundry themed Baby Sprinkle
The arrival of a new baby is cause for great celebration and just because you’re having your second, third, fourth or fifth child, it doesn’t mean mom should not have a baby shower to celebrate his/her arrival.
That’s where a baby sprinkle comes in.
The mom-to-be receives baby essentials and the celebration is considerably more low key than a baby shower.
Little Man’s soccer coach is expecting her fourth son in a few weeks and another soccer mom from the team is awaiting the arrival of her second child, a baby girl, any day now. Both don’t have family in the area and weren’t planning to have a celebration for their babies’ arrival. Earlier on this month, I was invited to partner with Dreft to share two of their popular laundry products with a few friends. That’s when the idea of a laundry themed baby sprinkle popped up.
Gift baskets for the moms-to-be
With Dreft being every new parent’s go to for baby’s laundry, it was a no-brainer that the addition of Dreft’s newborn liquid detergent and the Dreft Blissfuls‘ scent boosters would be welcome inclusions in a gift basket.
I also added baby blankets though baby clothes or towels would be perfect too.
A tasty but easy to prep menu
I know some people like to go the whole nine yards with a baby shower celebration and that’s where baby sprinkles are so much more laid back. For our baby sprinkle I made chicken salad croissants, a watermelon bowl, chocolate chip mocha cupcakes (you know every mom loves chocolate and coffee!) and served chips with dips, a veggie tray, donut holes and spicy spinach pockets.
No games. No stress.
I chose not to organize any games as all of us were meeting after a while and everyone wanted to catch up with each other. The absence of games ensured the time spent was so much more relaxed and not rushed trying to fulfill an itinerary.
We talked about how it gets easier with the second child and how to juggle giving the older sibling(s) attention after baby’s arrival. Though we all come from different places and backgrounds, it was clear that everyone’s hearts were in the same place…
to give our children the best, irrespective of our situations and circumstances.
We shared our birth stories, swapped notes on tips on helping baby sleep through the night and yes, we ensured we helped ourselves freely to the food in front of us!
The perfect party favors (+ a free printable to use at your shower/sprinkle)
Cookies and little tea lights are cute favors but nothing could be a more apt laundry themed baby sprinkle favor than Dreft’s Blissfuls.

All you need to do is print the tags on white, A4 size, card stock and tie/attach the same to your favor.
Thanks to the generosity of our friends from Dreft, we were able to surprise our guests with bags filled with an unexpected surprise.
I have to admit I’m actually looking forward to hosting my next sprinkle. This one was ‘loads of fun’!
