At times when God speaks, it’s a still small voice…sometimes even a whisper. And it’s at times like these that He invites us to be still and know that He is God (Psalms 46:10).

Join me as I share with you God Whispers that have that sustained, strengthened and encouraged me on my journey to be the Mommy and Wife God wants me to be.

Just A Single Step of Faith.

Earlier this evening, during our time for family prayer, when it was my turn to pray I felt the need to just spend the time blessing the LORD for all that He has done for my family. As I prayed it was as if the LORD was reminding me after each thankful statement of praise to Him that there was yet another reason for me to thank Him, to praise Him, to give Him the honor that was due.

.

What began as a prayer of thankfulness for what the LORD had done for us gradually moved into a time of thanking Him for what He will be doing in our lives.

It was as if God was reminding us that He had done all those things in the past and that He is well able to do it all over again with the needs we are trusting him to fulfill in the days to come.

.

Thanking Him in advance for what is yet to be meant activating our faith to trust in what our God will do even though our physical eyes cannot see it yet. I have to be honest that it’s easier doing this in some cases but in those 1-2 odd cases it’s extremely hard…

but then that’s where faith comes in.

In the book of Luke 5:1-10 we see Jesus asking his disciples to throw their fishing nets onto the left side of the boat despite the fact that they’d done this through the night and not caught a single fish.

It took the disciples an act of faith to blindly obey what Jesus was asking of them despite all logical rationalization that may have gone on in their minds.  They took that step of faith and Jesus honored that with more than just a meager haul of fish. The Bible says their nets were bursting with so many fish that it seemed as if the nets would break at any moment.

.

It’s the same in our lives.

Sometimes we need to put aside all rational thinking and logical rationale to  look to Jesus and believe, with a heart filled with faith and confidence, that God is able to bring into fulfillment that prayer need that has been burdening your heart.

When you do that don’t just stop with a prayer of faith. Begin thanking Him in faith and you will see that your faith will set things into motion.

.

Remember, it all begins with that single step.

  1. Thank you for this reminder. I forget to thank Him for what he will do in the future. You’re right, it’s about taking a step of faith. I appreciate your “God Whispers” posts.

    1. Thank you Jan. Its not always easy taking those steps of faith but He makes it easier with His Grace 🙂

  2. That’s so awesome that you have family prayer time… we never did that growing up and so far I just have prayer time with my girls before bed. You sound like an amazing mom!

  3. I love how God moves during family prayer time. Sometimes our 3 year olds prayers change the direct I had planned to go, but I really believe God can speck to children.
    Wonderful post!
