I still remember that morning, at a church picnic, at the local park. I was only 11 years old and the women were taking their kids to the restroom for potty breaks. I don’t know how the conversation came up but for a good long while, the ladies discussed weak bladders, leaking issues and what not.

To say I was embarrassed would be  an understatement. I think I was shocked more than anything to think that my Mom’s friends had what I now know as “LBL” (Yep! The dreaded light bladder leakage issue) Little did I know that their conversation would come back to memory when I became a Mom.

Yes, I admit LBL!

There I said it!

Pregnant with our third child, 6 months along the line…and I’m not ashamed to admit that LBL is real!!

(Everyone I know says the passage into motherhood triggers it off, but it’s a small price to pay to be called Mama by a precious little being who grew in your belly.)

Being a Mom

I honestly think our daughter, who will arrive in February next year, tap dances on my bladder several intervals through the day.

That along with an unannounced sneeze, cough or bouts of hysterics, thanks to someone’s funny conversation, is enough to bring that uncomfortable leak through.

But now I’ve learnt that it can all be fixed if I listen to Hubs and do those kegels regularly! (Can you tell I was slack on doing them post our 2nd child’s birth?)

Handling the day with Poise {A Mother’s Confession}

So till we have our little one, I know I need to stay comfortable, clean and confident through the day as I whiz around taking the kids to and from school, doing chores around the house and basically playing Super Mom.

My solution…Poise!

Poise

Make sure you use your 2$ off coupon when you shop for Poise...your LBL solution at Walgreens.

.

I love that the ultra thin pads are very inconspicuous when worn with my intimates. They’re apparently made to be three times drier than other period only liners. They’re also available to cater to your LBL extent on 5 different absorbency levels. Oh and any possible odor issues aren’t an issue any more!

So yes, you can be equipped to handle your day with poise. (Pun intended!)

Say Cheese

Looking over photographs from the past three years, I smile because only I know how much more confident and comfortable I felt knowing I was well “padded” to handle the events for the day. And as a Mom, you never know how unpredictable a day can turn out to be.

One moment you may be fixing breakfast, the next moment you be helping the kids dress for the day and the next you just may be in a day long cook off contest!

Smile

Irrespective of how your day turns out at least you now know that  you  don’t have to be caught in an uncomfortable predicament.

.

How do you handle your day with poise?

  1. Oh I feel you. I’m pregnant with my 2nd child – and if I sneeze just the right way… Thank you for sharing this with us.

  2. I love this post! You’re not the only one dealing with LBL. Seems it happens to the best of us. 🙂

  3. I haven’t experienced LBL yet, but I had a C-section with my first son so I’m kind of expecting to get it after this one is born {since I’m hoping for a VBAC}. Like you said, totally worth it to be a mom, but not something I’m looking forward to!

  4. There are so many conversations I remember thinking were so strange growing up, lol. I know I’ve overheard similar ones when I was a kid!

    1. Me too! I don’t remember a particular conversation but as long as I can remember it was always just a fact of life for women as they got older.

  5. Thanks for bringing up one of those things that we never think we should talk about. Getting through the day with “Poise” sounds like the way to go… no pun intended (well, maybe).

  6. After three kids I know exactly how you feel. I fear getting a cold the most because of the coughing. Then the … yeah. You get it and I am happy to see so many other women saying they get it as well.

  7. I remember my mom talking about this. I haven’t had to deal with it, even through 2 pregnancies, but I guess we all do eventually. Thanks for being brave and talking about it.

  8. This is definitely something many mommas can relate to, myself included. I definitely feel thin pads make life easier to stay confident through all situations. Especially those moments when you laugh hard, sneeze, or even cough hard. Thanks for this review and your honesty about this issue.

  9. I am sure so many women of all ages deal with this very problem! It’s great knowing we can count on products to help us feel confident!

  10. Another use I’ve found – wearing these while running. Running long distances seems to exaggerate LBL for me. TMI, I know! But I’d rather wear Poise than spend my run in a port-a-potty or within two block of my house. 🙂

  11. Thanks for being brave and sharing this with all the mamas out there! It shouldn’t be a secret, and there is help! Thanks Poise

  12. This is definitely a Motherhood secret that no one talks about much – and yet I am sure most moms deals with it!

  13. Six kids and I try not to laugh, sneeze or breath to hard. Love my babies but boy things are broken now down below. 🙂

  14. I SO need those with this pregnancy. I’m with ya, tap dancing on the bladder. ugh!!

  15. Oh, how I can relate to this. I had a really bad problem with this, so bad that I needed surgery to correct it. If I sneezed, or laughed, or sometimes even if I just smiled, I had that horrible pee running down my legs. Thank goodness someone has come up with a product to help women with it.

  16. whats so funny is this happens to ALL of us. Thanks for being so honest about it!

  17. Ugh I hate it. I can’t even jump on the trampoline with my kids without leakage issues. I never thought about this but 2 kids later, it is a fact of life. Like you, just have to smile and not let it bother me. Instead I get protection and jump, jump jump!

  18. I’ve heard about this issue among woman; while most woman who have this issue are mothers, I know some people who aren’t mothers who have this issue as well! I have a little bit of this every now and again myself and it really is not very pleasant o.O

It’s nice to know that there are things to help woman feel more comfortable and secure!
