Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
School begins on Monday and while the uniforms are all ironed, school supplies bought, 1 out of 2 Meet the Teacher nights complete, I don’t think this Mama is ready to let her babies go back just yet.
But knowing I can’t hold time back, I’ve been trying to mentally prepare myself with a list of things I need do to be all set for that 1st day of school.
Are you in the same boat?
Perhaps these 3 helpful tips will make the 1st day Back to School less stressful on you…
Getting Parents Ready for Back to School
1. Begin by making sure you wake up at least an hour or two before your Back to School goer does for two reasons…
a. To allow yourself some quiet time to pray and strengthen yourself in the Word of God
b. To have breakfast ready, on the table, before you wake your child up for school.
2. Don’t wait for the morning of school to iron school uniforms/ the outfit for the day, write lunchbox notes, pack lunchboxes and/or hunt for a clean pair of shoes. As far as possible, prep as much as you can the previous night.
3. For the first few mornings, till you get back into the swing of a school routine, don’t go elaborate or over the top with breakfast. Draw up a breakfast menu beforehand so you have your action plan ready for the day. You can even bake Morning Glory muffins a few days prior, freeze them and later microwave them when needing a quick but wholesome breakfast option.
(Pssst…a quick way to get fruit and milk in at the same time is to make your child fruit milkshakes- apple, banana, mango, cantaloupes etc. Just remember with all of these to make them fresh as your child sits at the table eating his/her breakfast. Cantaloupe milkshakes can turn bitter if left sitting for too long!)
And before you know it, routine will kick in and you will be moving like clockwork!
Oh, I pray this school year will be a blessing not just for your kids but for you too.
It’s such a blessing to have our kids in school. Did you know there are so many kids, your child’s age, who don’t go to school?
Why, in America itself, 1 million students don’t graduate high school? Not college but high school.
Such a sad statistic.
That’s why as parents it’s so important for us to enthusiastically encourage our kids while in school.
And while all of us can’t be stay at home parents, there are ways to ensure our kids go to a safe, secure, environment after school. An environment that serves as an extension of home, that nurtures the child, provides a hot meal after school and encourages his/her dreams.
Yes, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America is one such environment.
As schools open all around the country, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America have partnered with Disney to provide 40,000 school supply kits to their Club Members…
but they can’t do it without your help!
and a school supply kit will be donated to a child, thanks to you!
Such a great initiative but one that needs lots of boosting. The last time I checked this morning, only 11,405 supply kits have been donated and that’s pretty far away from the target set.
We can do this! Will you help?
Lets help make this new school year an awesome one for our kids and for another child who deserves all that our little ones do.
Are you all set for the new school year? How do you, as a parent, get ready for a new school year?
