If I had to vote for the room I love the most in our home, I’d have to say it is the kids Toy Room.
The bright colors, and fun feel that hits you when you enter the room, is enough to stamp happy on your heart for the rest of the day!
But when Hurricane Bunny (yep, our 2 year old!) hits the room, it’s a totally different story!
Take for instance, our collection of plush toys. Yes, I’m known to ruthlessly pick out stuff the kids don’t play with and donate them…but the plush toys, are another story.
The ones that have survived from Clear Out wrath are cuddlies that have a story behind them.
Needless to say, the collection of memories is quite a large one considering you can
preserve accumulate quite a bit, in a 6 year old’s life span!
Storing Plush Toys…in an Organized Manner!
Thankfully, I discovered the Boon Animal Storage Bag. I have to admit I didn’t think a 24″ x 22″ x 12″ pouch could hold very much.
I mean, hello, we’re talking about a huge bunch of soft toys!
How many bags would I need to ensure the Plush Container we have does not overflow to the seams?
We could actually cram 28 plush toys into the sack…and I’m sure we could have done many more if I’d kept out big Mr Giraffe, our Chick-fil-A cow, Bunny Boo’s helicopter pillow and huge Elmo!!
And what’s awesome is this alternatively acts as a seat for the kids in the toy room!!
How cool is that?
Having solved the plush issue, lets move onto that stack of board games.
Storing Board Games…in an Organized Manner!
If you have preschool aged kids or older, I’m sure you will have a fair share of board games.
It’s easy to stack these on easy-0-reach shelves, but if you have a toddler at home, you can be sure to have inquisitive little hands digging into each box… pulling out counters, cards… making a right down royal mess!
The other option is to store the boxes away on high shelves, but then your older child would not be able to reach them.
My solution to the board game predicament is to store all the little odds and ends in Ziploc sandwich bags and store your games in a toy box.
This keeps everything intact and allows your older child to access the games as and when required.
We love our gender-neutral Elmo Toy Box from Delta Children’s Products
This wooden storage chest can hold 8-10 board games and serves as a mini-bench for the kids as well.
It’s easy to set up…
and the bright colors add life to that corner of the kids’ room.
Because the kids have a 4 year age gap, I can’t give away our set of preschooler board games as yet.
Plus we have a set that’s age appropriate for Bunny girl.
Having the toy box around to store Bunny Boo’s board games in, has definitely been very helpful…
And has been working so far to keep things organized!!
Finally onto all those little what-nots…
Storing the Little Toys…in an Organized Manner!
Bunny girl has always loved little toys-characters, animals, accessories, dolls et al.
She can go hours on end in her world of imaginative play and I love that. It has helped sharpen her creativity and story-telling skills.
the pile of assorted little things are a massive pain to sort out, if a certain little 2 year old decides to go on a “Lets empty the buckets” spree.
That’s where our Step2 Fun Time Room Tropical Organizer comes in!
Everyone knows I have a thing about labeling and/or color-coding while organizing. ( It just makes things easier, more systematic and helpful for a child…and Mama too!)
This hot in the market, new, gender-neutral, organizer is perfect for the kids room. The buckets are generously sized and the I love that it’s considerably more sleek than our last organizer…
and as with all Step2 products, is super-easy to put together.
And here’s what I really, really, love about this…
the fact that I can label ALL the bucket-boxes with a Dry-Erase marker.
I’m definitely in Organization Bliss-Land right now…
atleast for the kids’ toy room.
I just need to find a way to organize their art supplies and creations.
That’s next on my list!!
Tell me what you do to bring some organization sanity to your child’s toy room?
While I wish we could give away all three awesome, organizational, good-to-haves for a child’s toy room, we are giving away one Boon Animal Toy Storage Bag/Seat!
